How We Strengthen Western Gateway Park
The Foundation channels community support into three core areas — maintenance support, capital improvements, and community programming and recreational opportunities. Maintenance support keeps the park clean, safe, and functional on a day-to-day basis. Capital improvements fund lasting upgrades to infrastructure and facilities that limited municipal budgets cannot cover. Community programming and recreational opportunities expand what the park offers to families, neighbors, and visitors across all ages and seasons.
Donor Dollars at Work
Since 2018, the Western Gateway Park Foundation has directed community contributions toward improvements that visitors see and use every day. Funded projects have included pathway resurfacing, accessible playground equipment upgrades, native plant restoration along the park's perimeter, and seasonal event infrastructure. Each project is selected based on community need, safety priority, and long-term benefit to the park's usability and natural character. These investments would not be possible without the generosity of individual donors who share a commitment to keeping this park vibrant.
The Pavilion: A Gathering Place for Everyone
The open-air pavilion is one of Western Gateway Park's most beloved features — a landmark that hosts community celebrations, farmers markets, youth programs, and informal gatherings year-round. Preserving and enhancing this structure is a central priority for the Foundation, ensuring it remains safe, accessible, and welcoming for generations to come. Maintenance of the pavilion's roof, flooring, lighting, and surrounding grounds requires consistent investment that goes beyond what standard municipal maintenance budgets provide. The Foundation's work here is a direct example of how donor support protects the park's most visible and well-used community assets.
The Park Still Needs You
Western Gateway Park faces ongoing needs that community support alone can address. Priority areas for current and future Foundation investment include restroom facility upgrades, expanded shade structures, improved sports court surfaces, and year-round trail maintenance. As park use grows and infrastructure ages, the gap between available municipal funding and actual need continues to widen. Your contribution today directly closes that gap — and keeps this park thriving for everyone who depends on it.
